Call for showcases: Ashaiman To The World Festival in Ghana
Emerging Ghanaian artists can now apply for performance slots at the 2022 Ashaiman To The World Festival (ATTWF) slated for the Saka Saka Park in Accra on 3 September.
Now in its seventh year, the festival is the brainchild of the Burniton Music Group headed by reggae-dancehall singer Stonebwoy. It is held in partnership with BTL Africa, and forms part of the musician’s vision to spotlight undiscovered local talent while celebrating the community he hails from.
To participate, interested young musicians, or their representatives, may send their details to bhimcypher@gmail.com or call +233 54 545 2812.
The deadline for applications is 2 September.
“Primarily, this is an opportunity for me to shine a spotlight on the town [Ashaiman] and its people that helped shape me into the successful creative artist today,” Stonebwoy told Music In Africa. “By giving back to the society, the platform also serves as an opportunity to expose new talents from the community to the world.”
Ahead of the main concert, organisers say this year’s ATTWF will be heralded by a series of activities including sporting events, cultural activities, and free health screening for Ashaiman residents, among other CSR activities.
On where he hopes to take the festival in the coming years, Stonebwoy disclosed his ambition to “continue to grow it and have it become an international festival where we can bring down some artist exchange.”
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy, who joined Def Jam Africa in May, is expected to drop a new album, titled Album 5, in the coming months. Ahead of the project, the musician, has released a new single titled ‘Therapy’.
