The album features collaborations with international and African artists, including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, The Cavemen., King Promise, A-Reece, and Bien from Sauti Sol.
According to M.anifest, the album’s title is inspired by his childhood in Madina, Ghana. The album, he said, symbolises embarking on a fresh path, drawing from personal experiences growing up in a neighbourhood called New Road, where a guava tree represented growth and new beginnings.
The project, recorded between Accra, Seattle, and Los Angeles, took nearly two years to complete. It includes production from Grammy-nominated producer GuiltyBeatz, long-time collaborator Budo, and MikeMillzOn’Em. The 14-track project blends hip hop, Afro-beats, and highlife, offering introspective storytelling alongside upbeat, danceable rhythms.
Among the standout tracks is the lead single ‘Puff Puff’, featuring The Cavemen. and Flea, which merges hip hop, jazz, and highlife. Other notable songs include ‘Eye Red’, which explores youth struggles and systemic failures, ‘Wine and Blues’, a reflection on resilience, and ‘Hang My Boots’, a collaboration with King Promise about leaving behind chaos for love. The album concludes with ‘Second Hand’, a meditation on life’s cyclical nature.
With New Road & Guava Trees, M.anifest continues to push creative boundaries while staying deeply rooted in his heritage. The album is expected to solidify his position as one of Africa’s most innovative hip hop artists.
