Call for submissions: Ghana Music Awards UK 2022
The organisers of the Ghana Music Awards UK are inviting submissions ahead of the sixth edition of the annual ceremony.
Put together by Alordia Promotions and West Coast UK, the awards highlight and celebrate outstanding musical feats by Ghanaian artists at home and in the UK while facilitating an environment for collaboration and cultural exchange.
The project aims to provide a platform representative of the opinion of the general public and industry professionals alike. “For this reason, a selection process has been structured, this year, to up the credibility of the awards scheme,” the organisers said, adding, this year’s event will see the presentation of awards across 42 voting and two honorary categories.
To be eligible, submitted works must have been released between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022. Artists or their representatives need to file their nominations online here.
Voting will be done on the awards’ official website or via mobile phone with shortcodes on selected mobile networks, which organisers say will be communicated in due course.
Gospel musician Diana Hamilton won the 2021 Artist of the Year accolade along with the gongs for Gospel Artist of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year. Shatta Wale, Wiyaala, Akwaboah, Keche, Kuami Eugene and KiDi also won two awards apiece. Other winners included Mr Drew and Reggie N Bollie.
