Cape Town International Jazz Fest unveils line-up, dates
The 2020 edition of Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CIJF) will be held at Cape Town International Convention Centre from 27 to 28 March.
Confirmed local acts include Sjava, Abdullah Ibrahim, Judith Sephuma, Lady Zamar, Lira, Samthing Soweto, Austebza, Nduduzo Makhathini, Ndlovu Youth Choir, Jonathan Butler, Gabi Motuba, Sounds of Brass, The Unity Band, Saudiq Khan, Bombshelter Beast, Grassy Spark, Johan Lass, Jonas Gwangwa Tribute and Mandisi Dyantis.
They will be joined by Femi Koya (Nigeria), Manou Gallo (Côte d’ivoire), Ezra Collective (UK), MF Robots (UK), Jacob Collier (UK), Jacob Collier (UK), Earl Sweatshirt (US), Joel Ross (US), PT Morton (US) and Birdsong Ensemble (SA/Switzerland/Germany/Swaziland).
“For 20 years, CIJF has brought some of the world’s greatest musicians to our shores,” CTIJF festival director Billy Domingo said. “As we celebrate our 21st year of the Festival, festinos can look forward to yet another unforgettable line-up of some of the greatest names in jazz.
“These unforgettable acts will join some of the best local and international music icons, including Grammy award winners PJ Morton from the US and Jacob Collier from the UK, South African jazz legend Abdullah Ibrahim, Cape Town’s own Jonathan Butler with special guest Candy Dulfer from the Netherlands, Kwetu Trio featuring Aaron Rimbui, Herbie Tsoaeli and Ayanda Sikade, songstress Lira, jazz master Mandisi Dyantyis, MF Robots from the UK and South Africa’s Nduduzo Makhathini.”
