Dineo Langa and Donovan Goliath to host 2020 SAMAs
South African actress Dineo Langa and comedian Donovan Goliath will host this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMAs) from 3 to 7 August.
The awards ceremony, which is in its 26th edition, will be streamed via the My Muze digital music service and broadcast on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 9.30pm.
“We have total faith in the partnership of Dineo and Donovan,” Recording Industry of South Africa CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said. “Dineo brings class and sophistication as well as the wits to the table while Donovan is trusted to find the humour in the proceedings. We wish them well as they prepare for the big nights.”
Langa is a singer, entrepreneur and TV host who has appeared on local soapies like The Queen, My Perfect Family, Mrs Right Guy and Scandal! She was a host at O-Access on Channel 0 between 2011 and 2012. Langa studied at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.
“When putting together a list of award shows one would like to host someday, the SAMAs are definitely at the top," Langa said. "It’s an incredible honour to be the SAMA26 host and a privilege to do so alongside the incomparable Donovan Goliath. I’m extremely excited to be a part of the SAMAs and to experience the magic of new beginnings for South Africa’s top music awards show.”
Goliath is a also voice-over artist and MC, and has delivered masterclasses on marketing, design and creativity. He shot to local TV fame as the host of Real Goboza and is part of the award-winning entertainment brand Goliath and Goliath.
“This is the last thing I expected, especially at this time," he said. "So super excited to host this with Dineo. I respect her and I’ve always loved her energy. Let’s go.”
Meanwhile, the SAMAs recently announced all the nominees for the event.
