Egypt: Mohamed Ramadan YouTube channel surpasses 2 billion views
Egyptian singer and actor Mohamed Ramadan is currently the most viewed Arabic artist.
- Many musicians would be envious of Mohamed Ramadan's streaming numbers.
Egypt Today reported that the singer made the news public on 4 November. “Thank God. My channel on YouTube surpassed the 2 billion mark in terms of viewership, making it the most-watched channel of an Arabic artist,” Ramadan wrote on Instagram.
He is also the most viewed artist in the Middle East, the publication said.
Ramadan's music videos are attracting an astounding number of viewers, with the visuals for his latest hit, ‘Al-Sultan’, reaching 9.1 million since it was uploaded on 26 October.
All of his videos released in the past five years have exceeded the 10 million mark, including ‘Mafia’ and ‘Number One’, which have so far garnered 160 million and 123 million views respectively.
His most controversial song this year is ‘Homa Ayzenha Fawda’, which was released in September and roughly translates to "they want chaos". The song criticises individuals who employ foreign media to launch attacks on the Egyptian government in an attempt to cause unrest in the country.
Meanwhile, Ramadan has been nominated in the African Fans' Favourite category ahead of this year’s All Africa Music Awards. His is nominated alongside Davido (Nigeria), GIMS and Maluma (DRC), Kuami Eugene (Ghana) and The Ben (Rwanda), among others.
