English Folk Expo launches learning hub for artists
English Folk Expo has announced the launch of the Folk Talk Academy, a virtual learning hub that gives artists free access to a broad range of music industry expertise.
- The Midi Music Company's Wozzy Brewster is among the industry experts featured in the series.
The first webinar session will be held on 5 May at 4pm CAT. The Folk Talk Academy is courtesy of the Arts Council in England and is open to all interested participants. It will feature about 50 Zoom webinar lectures to be held from May to August.
The lectures will include presentations and in-conversation sessions by experts across the music industry, including Nearfield Agency’s Phil Simpson, The Midi Music Company’s Wozzy Brewster, Black Deer Festival’s Bev Burton, Keychange’s Francine Gorman, Cause4’s David Johnson, United Talent Agency’s Beth Morton and BLiM’s Roger Wilson, among others.
Each lecture will be an hour long and include a 15-minute Q&A session with online participants. All lectures will be recorded live and will be available to view again on the Folk Talk Academy website.
The academy will also feature an online library that will hold extended pieces of writing on 10 sectors of the music industry, as well as an online conference centre that gives access to footage from English Folk Expo’s 2020 Folk Talk Live conferences. The Speaker’s Corner will allow registered participants to access additional video content created by industry experts over the past year.
English Folk Expo is a UK charity that supports English folk, roots and acoustic music through festivals, events, showcasing, artist mentoring, industry training, audience development, international partnerships and commissions.
