Enter Shikari and The Ocean to headline RAMFest in SA
British electronicore band Enter Shikari and German progressive metal outfit The Ocean will headline RAMFest in Stellenbosch and Pretoria in South Africa on 1 and 2 September, respectively.
They will be joined by a number of local alternative, rock, and metal bands including Facing the Gallows, Jack Parow, Peasant, We Kill Cowboys, Sunken State, Fallen Prophets, Acid Magus and Straatligkinders, among others. From emerging artists to established favourites, these bands represent a diverse range of styles and influences within the South African music community.
Enter Shikari was formed in St Albans, UK, in 1999. The band has released seven albums to date including Take to the Skies (2007), Common Dreads (2009), A Flash Flood of Colour (2012), The Mindsweep (2015), The Spark (2017), Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible (2020) and A Kiss For The Whole World (2023). The four-piece played at the now defunct South African festival Oppikoppi in 2012.
Coalescing around a shared vision of limitless sonic exploration and heaviness, The Ocean is a group of artists that has released nine studio albums in different constellations since 2001. After tours with Karnivool and Katatonia in North America and Europe, the band released its latest studio album Holocene in May 2023. With this album, The Ocean concludes its palaeontology-inspired album series, redefining heavy music while shifting gears towards experimental electronic rock. In its first week of release, the album entered the German album charts at No 15 and was the second best-selling album on Bandcamp.
In the past 20 years, the Berlin-based post-metal juggernaut has toured the world extensively, from Europe and North America to Australia, Russia and Asia, and played at open air festivals such as Wacken, Roskilde, Øya, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Resurrection, Pukkelpop, Dour, as well as boutique festivals such as Roadburn or ArcTanGent.
Tickets to the Stellenbosch and Pretoria shows are available here and here.
