eSwatini rapper Llucid Musiq signs deal with local label
Swazi rapper Llucid Musiq has inked a record deal with local stable Kingdom Tales Records.
Llucid, who triumphed in the 2019 MTN Spotlight Champion competition in November, could become the most successful local rapper after signing the deal, which requires Kingdom Tales Records to record and distribute his music internationally.
“Though terms and actual figures were not officially released, the pact could easily make him the highest-earning hip hop artist in the Kingdom of eSwatini,” Kingdom Tales Records CEO Melusi Dlamini said. “This is said to be the biggest contract ever signed by a local artist.
“When an artist signs with a music label, the label advances the artist some of the money that is projected to be made by the artist. We are very excited to welcome Llucid Musiq to the family.
“We are a very small family, the only artists signed are Llucid Music and Sands, who is also the director of Kingdom Tales Records.”
Llucid, whose real name is Nsika Mazibuko, took to Instagram to express his excitement.
“I’m ecstatic to announce that my musical home will be Kingdom Tales Records and I am looking forward to a great and lucrative relationship with them,” he said.
As part of Llucid’s orientation, Kingdom Tales took the rapper to Cotton Fest in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the weekend. The label’s team, Dlamini says, is currently putting together his overall strategic and recording plan, which will be shared with his fans soon.
