G Whizz taps Wyre for She Violate Remix
Jamaican dancehall artist G Whizz has tapped his Kenyan counterpart Wyre for the remix of his 2022 single ‘She Violate’.
On ‘She Violate Remix’, which came out on 26 April, G Whizz and Wyre’s musical abilities shine through, bringing out the best of both collaborators in a tale of love and loss, with the duo expressing the desire to reconcile with a lover despite an emotionally damaging break-up.
Produced by Floyd ‘John GQ’ Barrett of Fams House Music and Sean Alaric, ‘She Violate Remix’ is an easy listen with infectious rhythm and melodies, paired with energetic beats that merge catchy Patois, English and Swahili lyrics.
Ahead of the release, G Whizz said: “I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Wyre on this song, especially since it is my debut Afrobeat-inspired music. The track has a captivating groove that’s sure to get people dancing but it also carries an important message about forgiveness, letting go of a troublesome past and moving forward.
“I have always felt connected to Kenya despite never having visited the country and I am grateful for the fans I've garnered over time and I look forward to the opportunity to perform there.”
Wyre said working with G Whizz was both an honour and inspiration, as he has been a long-time fan of the Jamaican musician. “Both of us being dancehall artists made the process effortless. This project sets the tone for my upcoming EP set for release this year,” he said.
Wyre is no stranger to collaborations with Jamaican artists, having worked with Cecile and Alaine as well Gramps Morgan and his late brother, Peetah.
The original ‘She Violate’ is off G Whizz’s 2022 sophomore album Just Winning featuring the likes of Beenie Man, Julian Marley and Ikaya. The 16-track offering was released to rave reviews and introduced G Whizz to an international audience.
Wyre, also known as Love Child, is a top Kenyan dancehall/reggae singer, songwriter, producer and music entrepreneur with a career spanning more than 25 years. He started his music career as a member of influential groups Necessary Noize and East African Bashment Crew. He is the founder of Lovechild Records and the Lion Wear clothing line, and the co-founder and CEO of artist services company Bloow.
