Ghana: Lynx announces new signing Kasar
Ghana-based Lynx Entertainment this week announced the signing of singer Kasar to the label.
The company unveiled Kasar by sharing a clip of the artist on Instagram with the caption: “Welcome to the Lynx Family.”
The artist, who was born Sam Oladotun Adjasco in Lagos, Nigeria, discovered his musical talent in church, where he learned to play the drums. In 2019, he emerged as the first runner-up of Citi TV’s talent show Voice Factory, releasing the Songs of Victory Gospel EP two years later.
The deal means that the singer joins award-winning signees like KiDi, Kuami Eugene and Adina at the record company, which is credited with launching careers of Ghanaian musicians like Asem, Irene Logan, Eazzy, MzVee and DopeNation.
Lynx Entertainment was founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter and producer Richie Mensah and serves as home to Afropop, hiplife, hip hop and R&B artists. In recent years, the company has also entered into strategic partnerships, including distribution deals with EMPIRE for its artists.
At Lynx, Kasar will be looking to benefit from the company’s resource pool and industry expertise, as well as ongoing support and development to evolve his sound, an Afropop-leaning style he will be hoping to bring to wider audiences.
Meanwhile, the artist’s new release under the label, a lovelorn, percussion-heavy number titled ‘Oyibo’ was published today across major DSPs.
