
Ghana mourns death of DJ Advicer
Ghanaian music promoter and Happy FM radio host DJ Advicer died on 3 March after a short illness.

The DJ’s death was confirmed by his employer in a statement on Thursday. “The management of Global Media Alliance Group (GMA, Happy FM, YFM & eTV Ghana) regret to announce the passing of Isaac De-Graft Danquah, popularly known as DJ Advicer, on Wednesday 3 March 2021,” the statement reads.
“Happy FM’s supreme selector made it his sole purpose to put the spotlight on the relatively unknown artists in Ghana, a personal mandate that he carried out with a lot of passion. May his soul rest in peace.”
Advicer passed away while he was admitted at 37 Military Hospital in Accra. News of his death has been met with a deluge of condolence messages across the country’s entertainment fraternity.
“One of the realest in the game. R.I.P DJ Advicer,” his colleague, Giovani Caleb, wrote on Twitter. “Thoughts and prayers with the immediate family & colleagues.”
Rapper Captain Planet said: “Rest Well DJ Advicer. We laughed out recently about my ‘Akpeteshie’ song. Thank you for everything my good friend. This thing called life is too short”.
“RIP DJ Advicer. Thank you for your contributions to radio & entertainment in Ghana,” musician Ko-jo Cue said. “Glad to have met you a few times.”
“Rest well, Champ,” DJ Mpesempese added.
DJ Adviser was the host of Happy FM’s Ayekoo After Drive weekday show. He was widely praised for his talent and for promoting local musicians, particularly emerging acts.
DJ Advicer was the recipient of multiple awards including Best Music Promoter of the Year and Best Afrobeat/Hiplife DJ of the Year at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards. He was also behind the highlife single ‘I Do’ featuring Adina and Yaw Stone.
