Ghana: Watch Rocky Dawuni's new video Ghost Town
Ghanaian Afro-roots guitarist Rocky Dawuni has released the visuals to his song, ‘Ghost Town’.
‘Ghost Town’ is the first video off the singer's latest EP Voice of Bunbon, Vol 1, which was released in October. The song is now available for streaming and downloading on various platforms.
The video was directed by Casey Bridges and follows the guitarist through empty alleys in Oakland, Venice, and the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles. Bridges previously co-directed Dawuni's video ‘Champion Arise’, off his 2019 album Beats of Zion.
‘Ghost Town’ concludes with an intimate backyard concert, which includes cameo appearances by musicians from around the world such as Debi Nova, Mermans Mosengo and Jason Tamba, Jillian Speer, Oneko Arika and Onyi Love.
Dawuni said that the vision of the video is to reflect a world in crisis, while stressing the value of community and human connection. Bridges says the song talks to some of the greatest challenges that human beings are faced with today.
“Rocky’s lyrics echo the refrain so many are feeling around the world at this time. His voice brings us together as he sings out from the lowest valleys to the highest peaks. Filming this video with Rocky and friends was an opportunity to collaborate with inspirational artists who share music and a vision of rising above to realize a brighter tomorrow,” he said.
Voice of Bunbon, Vol 1 was named after Dawuni’s hometown situated in Northern Ghana. It combines modern and traditional musical trends in Ghana and across the continent, drawing from Afrobeats, highlife, reggae, soul and pop influences. Thematically, the collection focuses on love, resilience, faith, joy and hope.
