The artists include Sena Dagadu, Wanlov the Kubolor of the FOKN Bois, Gyedu Blay Ambolley. Over a dozen Hungarian artists will also be joining the local group for performances on the night for what is tagged the "Connection Concert," the musical segment of the cultural week.
Organisers of the event have promised attendees “a unique musical experience,” with many different genres to be featured on the night.
Sena Dagadu is a Hungarian-Ghanaian artist. Her first solo album was released in 2003. Thereafter she joined the Hungarian group Irie Maffia, with which she has released four albums. Ahead of the release of a new solo album titled Feathers, a listening part was held in Accra recently.
The Fokn Bois are a hip-hop group from Ghana. The group mixes humour with social and political commentary. Comprising Mensa and Wanlov the Kubolor, the group released its last album, Fokn Ode to Ghana, in 2016. Gyedu Blay Ambolley is a highlife singer and producer. He is sometimes called the originator of rap for his 1970s’ song ‘Simigwa-Do’. Last year, he performed at the monthly Lagos concert, Afropolitan Vibes.
The Hungarian Cultural Week in Ghana takes place in Hotel Kempinski, Rockstone's Office and the Alliance Francais between the 10th and 18th of March.
