Produced by Joker Nharnah, the hip hop-leaning track arrives as Black Sherif’s second single of the year, after his runaway hit ‘Kwaku The Traveller’. Thematically, ‘Soja’ finds its author in his usual reflective mood, conveying a story of strength, confidence, self-love and staying focused on one’s journey to the top.
Last week, Africa-facing streaming platform Boomplay honoured the 20-year-old for surpassing 100 million streams on the platform. The achievement, which makes Black Sherif the first Ghanaian to reach the milestone on Boomplay, will guarantee him online and offline promotional support in Boomplay’s operational markets and prioritisation for his upcoming releases.
A two-time winner of the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Black Sherif’s other releases include ‘Second Sermon’ and ‘First Sermon’, which were the two fastest-rising songs to reach 1 million streams on Boomplay.
The artist is up for the Best International Flow trophy at this year’s BET Awards in the US on 30 September. In December, he will also compete for two gongs at this year’s All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs).
