Global Music Awards Africa 2021: All the nominees
Smart Focus Media, the organiser of the Global Music Awards Africa (GMAAs), has announced the first batch of nominees ahead of the maiden edition of the event in March.
The GMAAs seek to celebrate outstanding musical achievements in Africa and beyond while promoting the continent’s artists to global audiences.
“Our mission is to unite Africa through music. The scheme will also honour the hard work and dedication of various stakeholders in the music industry,” GMAAs CEO Daniel Adofo told Music In Africa.
Nominees have been announced in 29 categories including Global Gospel Song of the Year, Global Hip Hop Song of the Year, Global Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Global Afrobeats Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and the coveted Global Artist of the Year, whose nominees include Ghana’s Kuami Eugene, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and Vanessa Mdee, Nigeria’s Davido, Wizkid and Simi, South Africa’s Nasty C and Master KG, and Uganda’s Nutty Neithan and Eddy Kenzo.
Fans can vote for their favourite artists here or with the shortcode *447*714# on all Ghana-based mobile networks until 1 March.
Meanwhile, nominations are still ongoing for the Africa Next Star and Africa Spotlight categories, both of which are dedicated to supporting upcoming artists on the continent.
