GYROstream launches white label music distribution service
Australian software company GYROstream has launched a new white label B2B solution for digital music distribution called DistroDirect.
The ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) tool will enable any music business to add digital distribution to their offering under their own brand. It will provide an automated and customisable distribution platform, which can deliver music to more than 100 digital service providers including Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Shazam, Tidal and TikTok.
The tool offers clients features such as collaborator split payments, music analytics on streaming platforms, reporting, and monthly statements. DistroDirect will also handle artist customer support limited to data capabilities.
Launched in 2018, GYROstream has driven more than a billion streams of its artists’ music. GYROstream and DistroDirect CEO Andy Irvine says the idea to give music companies of any size the tools to create their own distribution service was born during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. DistroDirect was initially launched as a test earlier this year, and more than 150 music businesses across 21 markets have launched their own services using the platform since then.
“We’ve already on-boarded so many like-minded labels, studios and music-related startups who are representing some amazing artists,” Irvine said. “Our aim is to empower more industry professionals and establish boutique distribution in every music market around the world.
“The DistroDirect model is also intended as an alternative to the increasing monopolisation of global distribution giants. This premium micro-distribution model allows for small- to medium-sized music businesses, who already know their local music market back-to-front, to use their artist networks to build a sustainable distribution business, wherever that may be.”
Each DistroDirect client can set their own price points and royalty rates via their admin console, while artists are able to create an account and manage their own assets, uploads and royalty withdrawals.
DistroDirect is also exploring the possibility of offering artist advances, digital marketing, vinyl production and distribution, and global promotional opportunities.
