Hey Siri: Apple makes 100 000 radio stations available to users

The rollout has begun in countries such as South Africa and some parts of Europe, including Germany and the UK. The service functions via Siri and through its integration with TuneIn and iHeartRadio. The live radio stations were billed as an upcoming iOS 13 feature, but support for Siri live radio currently functions on the HomePod, according to Digital Music News.

To play a radio station, users can command Siri to perform the following request: "Hey Siri, play radio station [station name]."

The live radio feature is in its early deployment stages and Siri may return to Apple Music searches if the user mentions the name of the station without specifying that it is a radio station. The glitch, reports say, will be rectified by the time iOS 13 is released. 

Apart from being accessible via Siri, radio streaming can be controllable through the Apple Music app, with the search tab employed to find the stations. The Apple Music app can also display the last stations played under the Recently Played section.

It’s still not clear if all 100 000 radio stations are already available but the live radio feature is currently streaming live on iPhones and iPads running the iOS 13 beta version as well as the HomePod on its current software.
