Keisha Cole calls off SA tour due to LA wildfires
American R&B singer and songwriter Keyshia Cole has cancelled her tour in South Africa due to “devastating fires in Los Angeles”, the organisers said.
The singer was scheduled to perform in Cape Town, North West and Pretoria this January, but the tour will not go ahead as initially planned.
“The artist has been directly affected by the ongoing tragedy, including the loss of her home, and as a result, she is unable to proceed with her scheduled performance,” a statement reads. “Together with her team, we have been working tirelessly to assess the situation, and in light of these unexpected and heart-breaking events, the difficult decision was made to call off the tour.
“The decision regarding a way forward will be finalised as soon as possible, and further details will be shared with fans by the end of next week. The well-being of the artist and her family are of the utmost importance during this difficult time.”
This is the second time Keisha Cole’s SA tour has not been held as scheduled. Initially scheduled for 26, 28 and 29 September 2024, the tour was rescheduled for January 2025 “due to unforeseen circumstances”.
Current ticket holders will be notified via email with instructions on how to proceed by the end of next week.
Meanwhile, the wildfires have also had a significant impact in the music business, with major record labels like Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group cancelling Grammy week events to redirect resources to aid wildfire relief efforts.
However, the Recording Academy confirmed the Grammy Awards will continue as scheduled on 2 February, despite the fires ravaging the Los Angeles area.
