Kenya: Anto Neosoul back with second album
After almost eight years since the release of his first album, Kenyan singer Anto Neosoul is back with his second collection titled Welcome 2 My Soul.
The project, which has been five years in the making, explores the artist’s vulnerabilities as a man. It was released across all streaming platforms on 17 June.
“I know you have all seen me shine in different times, but we must admit the light rarely ever lasts,” the singer wrote on social media. “I’ve been working on this sophomore album with my producer Dillie since 2018. We have been sharing voice notes, ideas, reworking lyrics, trying to get collaborations, adding instrumentalists, and even throwing out whole song ideas. All this has led to the moment I am most proud of.”
The 10-track album sees the singer churning out smooth R&B grooves and should be an instant hit with young lovers.
The singer says Welcome 2 My Soul is him at his most unpretentious. “I have poured my heart out a lot, so much that I don’t feel it bleed anymore. So instead I create music for those who truly understand what I’m all about and who care about great music. The album is an invitation to my innermost self as a performer.”
Except for one, all the songs on the album are written by the artist. The album also features Grammy Award-winning instrumentalist Owuor Arunga who arranged and played the trumpet on a few songs.
Anto Neosoul’s next project, which is being produced by Nigerian artist Joe Pee, is expected to be released later in the year.
