Liberia's HOTT TV to host music video awards
Liberia's HOTT TV has announced the launch of the country’s first ever film and music video awards.
HOTT TV Video Awards will take place sometime at the end of the year and serve as a platform to honour creative work in the film and music industries.
“The entertainment industry in Liberia has improved but not in terms of quality videos on a large scale," said showrunner Bernard Benson, popularly known as DJ Blue. "Our overall goal is to use this award platform to boost and encourage the production of quality videos in the film and music industry.
“One of the biggest benefits of these awards is that the winners will have their videos aired on an international platform like DStv and Trace Africa for more exposure out of Liberia."
On nominations and transparency, DJ Blue explained that a special committee would be set up to handle the nominations process and independent auditing firms would be hired to control the online voting process.
“We want to make this award transparent in the best way we can. We also want it to meet international standards. The responsibility of the said committee is to handle the nominations process, based on the criteria which they will set. To improve transparency in the awards process, the committee will work independently, without any interference from the organisers,” he said.
DJ Blue said the awards would not just honour artists based in Liberia but also those outside the country including the diaspora.
