Lilian Mbabazi to get up close and personal at debut solo concert
Ugandan singing sensation Lilian Mbabazi will on 21 August 2015 hold her first live solo concert, ‘Lilian: Up Close & Personal’, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The former Blu*3 member will also launch her new self-titled album, which features some of her hits like ‘Simple Girl’ and ‘Kuuma Obudde’. The hotly anticipated album, with a total of 16 tracks, has been in production for a period of two years. Among artists that she has collaborated with are APass, Atlas Da African, The Mith and Radio & Weasel.
On 21 July the singer released ‘Memories’, another track from the album, which sees her collaborate with up-and-coming artist Apass. The song, with a zouk feel, is a tale of lovers reminiscing of their good moments of the past.
In what is a highly anticipated event in the Ugandan musical calendar, Lilian will showcase some of the hits that have made her a favourite not just in Uganda but across Africa. These include ‘Vitamin’, ‘Kawa’, ‘Danger’, ‘Yegwe Weka’, ‘Dagala’ and more.
The artist has this to say of her forthcoming concert: “I have been looking forward to holding a solo concert for years now and cannot wait for the opportunity to showcase my talent as a live musician, as well as share the new material I have been working on.
“My ‘Up Close & Personal’ concert is my chance to thank my fans and give back after all the years of love and support. Together with my band, The Sundowners, we are going to take the live musical experience to another level!” added Lilian.
Lilian burst onto the music scene in 2004 as part of the pop group Blu*3 and has continued to thrill audiences with her signature sultry sound together with her band, The Sundowners.
At the beginning of 2015, Lilian signed to Deuces Entertainment Group (DEG) and this has proven to be a fruitful partnership. DEG will distribute her new album.
