Namibia’s DJ Evicted to launch sixth album
Namibian artist DJ Edvicted is set to launch his sixth album on 30 September in Windhoek, Namibia.
Titled Letter to Mamma, the album will be released under his record label Edvicted Music. The project is his fifth and features local artists, J Black, Slammer, Bertholdt, Konvicx, Nigel Mcdonald, Laukey and others.
This is the first album the artist has collaborated with many artists.
DJ Edvicted fuses traditional and contemporary sounds in the making of Letter to Mamma. The album loudly reflects on a number of aspects such as inspiration, love and respect for his mother. The album offers a combination of a number of genres including, RnB, rap, hip-hop, Afro-pop, house, kizomba and kwaito.
In a statement, the musician said, “The strong massage that this album holds is that of an independent woman who believes she doesn’t need a man to raise her kids. Without the support of a man she can raise the kids.”
Best known as Eddie Mr. Edvicted, DJ Edvicted has previously released the following albums, Real love, Reason, Remember Me, Study Hard and Oa /khi.
In 2015, he was nominated in the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) in the Best Disciplined Artist of the Year and Best Live Performer of the Year.
Also a producer, DJ Edvicted has worked with a number of artists such as Reeziana and Bertholdt.
The launch will take place at Dragon lounge at 8pm. There will performances from local artists such as Reeziana, JBlack, Laukey, Linda, Exit and many others.
