Nigeria: Ice Prince features Tekno on Make Up Your Mind
Nigerian rapper Ice Prince released ‘Make Up Your Mind’, a new single featuring Tekno, on 4 September. It is available on all leading digital platforms.
The song is Ice Prince’s first release since securing a record deal with 300 Entertainment, the American label founded by Lyor Cohen, Roger Gold, Kevin Liles and Todd Moscowitz. The label is home to popular rappers including Megan Thee Stallion, Young Thug and Gunna.
‘Make Up Your Mind’ is produced by Stunna, with visuals by T.G. Ice Prince confirmed to Music In Africa that the release heralds his upcoming album, which is expected to be released this year.
The track is the first time the two artists have paired up on new music since 2015 when they joined forces on ‘Boss’, a dance tune released on Ice Prince’s former label Chocolate City. On ‘Make Up Your Mind’, the two grapple with the ups and downs of romantic relationships.
Speaking about how 'Make Up Your Mind' came about, Ice Prince said the song developed organically and "represents the relationships we create and how we navigate through them. Sometimes it can be confusing when your heart is involved."
Born Panshak Zamani, Ice Prince’s hip hop and Afrobeats career began in 2004. He is best known for ‘Oleku’ featuring Brymo. His studio albums include Everybody Loves Ice Prince (2011), Fire of Zamani (2013) and Jos to the World (2016). His honours include BET Awards for Best International Act: Africa in 2012 and 2013, an MTV Africa Music Award for Best Hip Hop, and a MOBO Awards trophy for Best African Act.
