Nigeria music trade webinar slated for May
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the Association of Independent Music (AIM) and the Music Publishers Association (MPA) have announced a Nigerian music trade webinar on 19 May.
The 90-minute free virtual event, organised in partnership with the Department for International Trade and the Music is GREAT campaign, is based on recent trade mission webinars for India, China, South Korea, Brazil and LA Sync. It is open to AIM, BPI and MPA members and to industry and media guests, who can sign up for free.
The organisers say the webinar will explore the commercial opportunities for British music businesses in Nigeria’s fast-expanding export market.
Attendees will hear from expert speakers from a range of sectors, including the British deputy high commissioner in Lagos, Ben Llewellyn-Jones OBE, who will discuss the various facets of the music economy, including the recorded and live music sectors.
The session will enable future networking, B2B meetings and other music-related activities, the organisers said.
Other confirmed speakers include DIT Nigeria’s Chim Chalemera, legal consultant Tunde Laoye, The Orchard’s Ikechukwu Onuorah, creative industries entrepreneur Obi Asika, and Chocolate City Entertainment’s Audu Maikori and Ibukun Aibee Abidoye, among others.
The seminar will take place from 1pm to 2.30pm CAT.
