Nigeria: Patoranking readies third album
Nigerian singer Patoranking has announced details for his upcoming album, Three.
As the name suggests, his third offering is due on 28 August, and arrives a little over a year after his last album Wilmer. Tiwa Savage, Flavor, Sauti Sol and King Promise are among the collaborators on the project, according to a statement by the musician.
Patoranking's other collection of songs is 2016’s God Over Everything, which debuted at No 4 on Billboard's Reggae Albums chart.
The Afropop and dancehall act disclosed that Three will comprise 12 songs, and coincides with his 30th birthday. Thematically, the LP will treat the notions of kindness, joy, imagination, growth, love and happiness.
Days ago, Patoranking partnered with the Marley family and various artists around the world to reimagine Bob Marley’s ‘One Love’ in support of UNICEF’s work with children, whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also announced 10 beneficiaries of his scholarship fund, who will study at the African Leadership University this year.
With the release of Three, Patoranking joins an elite group of Nigerian entertainers gearing up for 2020 releases. They include Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and Adekunle Gold.
Since the start of his music career in 2009, the artist, born Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, has gone on to establish himself as a mainstay in African pop, issuing a consistent stream of hits including 'Girlie O', 'Daniella Whine', 'My Woman, My Everything' and 'No Kissing'. He has collaborated with high-profile African artists such as Wizkid and Timaya, and Jamaican acts Busy Signal and Morgan Heritage.
