Nigerian singer TY Again shares My Dear single
Emerging Nigerian singer TY Again has announced his new single titled ‘My Dear’, which is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
The track, released on his just-launched independent label TY Music Entertainment, features fellow Nigerian act Deji.
‘My Dear’ fuses Afrobeats with dancehall, exploring romantic themes. The artist explains that the song reflects typical Nigerian dating culture and mindset, adding that it captures the struggle of proving love repeatedly, only to sometimes face betrayal.
“It’s a reflection of real experiences and emotions that many people can relate to,” TY Again said. “For me, it’s about pushing boundaries musically and connecting with my audience on a deeper level. It also signals my growth as an artist and sets the tone for where I’m headed next.”
A graduate of Lead City University, Ibadan, TY Again cites the likes of Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Tony Allen and Burna Boy among his technical models. He first gained mainstream notice in 2020 with his debut EP Vibe Curator, built around evocative storytelling and West African pop pulses.
Meanwhile, ‘My Dear’ arrives as its author’s third single of 2024. His last single, titled ‘God’s Time (Believe)’, dropped months ago. Speaking to Music In Africa at the time, the artist said that the record, his first attempt at amapiano, was anthemic in its high-energy identity and how it pumps one to “take on the world”.
