Nigeria’s Phyno to release sophomore album in November
The Nigerian music industry has seen several artists release studio albums this year.
Such acts as Yemi Alade, Reminisce and Reekado Banks have brought out work for their fans. The Enugu-bred rapper Phyno is set to join the group.
According to reports, the rapper will be releasing his second album, titled Playmaker P, in November this year. The exact date is yet unknown.
If the rapper’s alleged plans go as expected, Playmaker P will follow 2014’s No Guts No Glory as solo work. A collaborative album with Olamide named 2 Kings was released in 2015.
In between his last solo outing and his forthcoming work, the rapper has kept his name on radio by releasing several singles to a mostly favourable reception. Such singles as ‘Nnunu’, ‘Ezege’, and ‘Yayo’ have found an audience. While ‘Connect’ and ‘Fada Fada’ have turned out to be national hits.
Before the expected November release, Phyno will be performing at a concert scheduled for 23 October in Lagos. Tagged “Three Thrones”, the concert is expected to feature two other artists that are yet to be announced by the concert’s organisers.
According to the rapper on Twitter, “The energy will be completely different on Oct 23…”
