Obrafour to headline GhanaFest South Africa on 16 September
Ghanaian hiplife musician and rapper Obrafour will headline the 2023 edition of GhanaFest South Africa at Fountains Valley in Pretoria on 16 September.
The event held annually brings together over 5 000 people from various countries and backgrounds to celebrate the diversity and deep heritage of not only Ghanaians but all nationalities in South Africa.
With support from Mama Money and the Ghana High Commission, the free festival will be held under the theme Heritage Changes and will feature more international and local artists acts who will be announced in due course.
“You can expect to see an abundance of beautiful clothing and textiles, live music, dancing, delicious food and cultural artefacts,” the organisers said. “The event aims to further strengthen the relationship between Ghana, South Africa and the broader West African community through an experience that offers a unique perspective of diverse cultures.”
The night, the organisers said, would be topped off with an exhilarating performance by traditional dancers to celebrate unity and diversity at the festival.
“You’ll be able to mingle with leading diplomats who will be in attendance for the celebrations and tours of the cultural and chieftaincy exhibitions.”
Obrafour made a grand entrance onto the music scene with his debut album Pae Mu Ka, which earned him three Ghana Music Awards in 2000. Other albums include Asem Sebe (2001), Tofa (2005), Still Strong (2018) and Adom Bi (2019), among others.
