Meanwhile, the organisers have announced South Africa-based Malawian artist Onesimus as the headliner of this year’s event.
Note: Special invitations will be sent to selected local and international acts based on characteristics aligned with the theme of the festival.
The selected artists will perform alongside local and international headliners to be announced soon.
Interested creatives can apply here before 31 July.
UMP comprises a music festival and awards ceremony as well as a fashion show and media awards. It began as a mini-concert in Blantyre in 2009 by employing a makeshift stage on the back of a truck. The event has grown to become one of the most influential entertainment events in the country.
Founded by Khumbo Munthali and Ken Limwame of Ndefeyo Entertainment, UMP Festival has been held at different venues including the former French Cultural Centre, Chancellor College, and BAT Ground.
