
Open call: 2025 ANNA Award
African female artists and those based in the diaspora are invited to submit applications for the 2025 edition of ANNA Award in South Africa.
- Inaugural Anna Award winner Lerato Nkosi.
Launched in 2022, the aim of the award is to discover, recognise and nurture a new generation of women artists from the African continent. No formal art training is required in order to apply and the competition is open to women-identifying artists working in any medium.
A selection committee will be deciding on 12 finalists and a winner. The ANNA Award winner will be announced on 6 August 2025, in celebration of Women’s Month. Interested artists should apply here before 27 June 2025 midnight GMT+2.
First prize
- R100 000 (about $5 300) cash prize from ANNA Pure Organic, a profiling opportunity at RMB Latitudes Art Fair, a dedicated feature in Latitudes newsletter and social media, well as a year’s supply of ANNA Organic products.
Audience award
- The top twelve finalists selected will all receive a profile on Latitudes and be considered for an artist residency programme hosted by SAFFCA. The public will be invited to vote for an Audience Award winner from the top twelve. This artist will receive a year’s supply of ANNA products as well as a newsletter and social media feature.
Terms and conditions
- Applicants must be women-identifying.
- The applicant’s work must fall into the category of Contemporary African art - understood to be art made by artists in Africa and the African diaspora.
- There are no restrictions based on age, training or nationality.
- There is no restriction on the medium of works that can be submitted.
- The artist must be the owner and the work(s) submitted are of their own origination. The artist must hold all moral and intellectual property rights.
- The image submitted must accurately portray the artwork.
- Latitudes Online reserves the right to reject applications of work that are deemed unsuitable for exhibition, be it explicit or antagonising, at our discretion.
- The award selection will be made by Latitudes Online and a third-party selection committee.
- 12 shortlisted finalists will all receive a profile on Latitudes and be considered for an artist residency programme hosted by SAFFCA.
