
Open call: Hurungwe Arts Festival 2025 in Zimbabwe
Artists from various disciplines are invited to submit applications for the 2025 edition of Hurungwe Arts Festival in Karoi, Zimbabwe from 25 to 27 July.
- The application deadline is 30 March.
Hurungwe Arts Festival is an important benchmark on the Zimbabwean arts calendar featuring disciplines such as music, dance, theatre, film, and visual arts from renowned and upcoming artists.
The festival, which is also open to artists outside Zimbabwe, will run under the theme: Heritage for the Future: Harnessing Intangible Cultural Heritage for Climate Change.
Applicants are required to submit the following information (in the event that the application is submitted via email, documents should be less than 5MB):
- A completed entry form.
- A presentation of the artist’s work (in case of music/film: one or two of the artist’s recordings on CD, DVD or MP3).
- A technical rider/data sheet.
- Interested artists should fill in their information here and submit the form along with the above material via email at hurungweartsfestival@gmail.com before 30 March 2025.
Successful artists should take note of the following:
- A modest performance fee will be offered to participating artists.
- For artists outside Zimbabwe, a modest accommodation, local transport and per diem will be provided.
- Artists from outside Zimbabwe are encouraged to source for support to cover travel, visa and insurance expenses.
- Selected artists will receive a formal invitation to facilitate the solicitation for such support.
“We embrace artists who look to the body, objects, space, and time for inspiration, research and practice,” the organisers said. “We will again bring to life a true experience of the arts, packed with creativity, passion and energy. Artists of all disciplines are invited to submit their applications to join the 8th edition of the festival.”
