Mavin Global is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic A&R manager to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in scouting for exceptional new talent, supporting the creative development of its signed artists, and contributing to the future success of Mavin Global.

Key responsibilities
- Proactively identify and research emerging Afrobeats and Afropop talent across various platforms (live shows, social media, online submissions).
- Attend industry events, showcases and concerts to stay ahead of trends and discover potential signings.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies for attracting and acquiring top-tier talent, utilising digital tools and networking effectively.
- Create compelling artist profiles highlighting key strengths and potential career trajectories.
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions to develop concepts for albums, singles, and other musical projects.
- Oversee the creative development of our signed artists and songwriters, including concept development, songwriting sessions, production direction and artist coaching.
- Evaluate demos and submissions, identifying artists with the potential to excel under the Mavin Global umbrella.
- Build and maintain relationships with key music industry players – producers, songwriters, managers, publishers, and digital streaming platform representatives.
- Research and identify potential collaborators (producers, songwriters, featured artists) who align with artists’ creative vision.
- Negotiate co-writing agreements, licensing deals, and other relevant music industry contracts.
- Oversee budgets for artist projects, adhering to financial guidelines while maximising resources.
- Coordinate logistics for artist development initiatives, including travel arrangements, content creation shoots, and media appearances.
- Oversee the administrative aspects of A&R projects, maintaining clear documentation and communication with all stakeholders.
- Prepare reports on A&R activities and artist development progress, providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify potential market opportunities and develop strategies to expand the reach of Mavin Global artists.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire artists.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proven passion for Afrobeats and Afropop music, with a deep understanding of the genre’s history, soundscapes, and cultural significance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and music industry software (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to track and analyse music trends and market data.
- Proven ability to secure placements for artists on major playlists and streaming platforms.
- A strong understanding of music production and songwriting processes.
