The Africa Digital Media Foundation is a Kenyan non-profit organisation mobilising skills, finance and policy change to create jobs for young people in Africa’s creative economy. The results of the survey will be presented as a written report to be shared publicly.
This study will “provide the empirical proof and evidence of what Kenya’s creative sector entrepreneurs (both formal and informal) need to increase their earnings, their skill set, and improve the quality of their creative work and their jobs,” the foundation said in the survey.
"We want our work to answer directly to the needs of the creatives we aim to support, and not be based on assumptions or the interests of others.”
How to participate
The Africa Digital Media Foundation survey can be completed in three ways:
- By using your computer or smartphone to access the online survey forms here.
- Participate in a paid online focus group discussion with other like-minded creative entrepreneurs and freelancers. To do so, complete the survey form and then select ‘yes’ when asked if you would like to take part in the focus group discussion, and leave your contact details.
- Share with, or recommend your colleagues, friends or peers to take part in the study. If you know of fellow creatives in any of the below fields, share their contact details with the foundation by email, so it can also invite them to take part.
Who can participate?
Creatives working in the following digital arts can take part in the survey:
- Music, sound and radio (sound engineering, recording artists and performing artists).
- Journalism and multimedia (blogging, journalism, digital marketing).
