ProVerb and Luthando Shosha to host 2024 Metro FM Music Awards
South African media personalities ProVerb and Luthando Shosha will host the 2024 edition of Metro FM Music Awards at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga Province on 27 April.
The awards are organised by the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC’s) biggest commercial radio station, Metro FM. This year, the organisers have partnered with the Mpumalanga provincial government and the Motsepe Foundation.
“It is an honour to host the Metro FM Music Awards 2024,” ProVerb said. “The SA music scene is constantly filled with rich, vibrant stories of our ever resilient and evolving country and the nominated artists are testament to this.”
Luthando Sosha, also known as Loot Love, is expected to bring a distinct flair to the programme, as the radio and television presenter recently returned to Metro FM to co-host The Touchdown with Tbo Touch.
Luthando Sosha said: “I am thrilled and deeply honoured to be hosting the 2024 edition of the Metro FM Music Awards. It’s also a monumental career moment, as I step into the role of hosting my first awards ceremony. I am eager to bring joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments to the awards show, alongside ProVerb. Here is to creating magic together on screen.”
ProVerb and Luthando Shosha will be joined by TV personality Lamiez Holworthy and 5FM’s Afternoon Drive presenter Zanele Potelwa, who will co-host and capture all the winners’ moments. DJ Sabby and SABC 1 presenter Nomalanga Shozi will also form part of the team.
The awards ceremony will take place amidst the backdrop of 30 years of democracy in South Africa. Metro FM radio station will mark the event under the theme Black To The Future, to celebrate the accomplishments and impact of black artists in the local music industry.
“SA music is thriving, attracting new audiences globally and inspiring black excellence,” Metro FM business manager Kina Nhlengethwa said. “It was only fitting that this year’s theme be carried by some of the industry’s best presenters, who bring a wealth of knowledge about diverse facets of the SA arts and entertainment scene.”
The awards will be broadcast live on SABC 1 and streaming service SABC Plus at 8pm CAT. In an effort to add more value to the awards, the winners in each category will receive R50 000, while the Song of the Year winner will walk away with R150 000.
