Red Bull Music Academy comes to Lagos
The respected Red Bull Music Academy will host its first Nigerian session in Lagos on 14 and 15 July.
Founded in the late 1990s by the Red Bull company, the academy has traversed the world hosting workshops and festivals every year since its first edition in Berlin, Germany. It is “a platform for those who make a difference in today’s musical landscape”.
The Lagos edition will take place over two days in July and will see an assortment of music professionals give talks about recording and the music business. Among the speakers are alumni of the Red Bull Music Academy DJ Klem and Kraftmatiks. Kenyan act Blinky Bill will also be present at the sessions. Other facilitators include Osagie Alonge and the artist Nneka.
According to an official call for applications, individual participants sent in demos and/or a remix to William Onyeabor’s Fantastic Man to hello@rbmalagos.com. At the end of the process, 60 “carefully selected participants” will collaborate and learn from established professionals.
