SA: 2022 Basha Uhuru Festival announces programme
South African artists Big Zulu, DBN Gogo, Mandla Spikiri, Msaki and Blxckie will perform at the 2022 Basha Uhuru Festival on Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 October.
They will be joined by Lelowhatsgood, iPhupho L'ka Biko, MamThug, Kyotic, DJ Mr X, Bonj, Fif_Laaa, DJ Zero, Thabie, Melo B Jones, AN.D, DJ Walker and Mo_Niks.
Besides music, the 10th edition of the Nando's-sponsored event will feature discussions about the creative business, workshops, design and art.
Sounds of Freedom Music Festival (29 October)
The music performances will run under the banner ‘Sounds of Freedom Music Festival’, which was curated to provide a platform for upcoming artists. The music festival will open on 29 October on 10am with talent curated by Bridges For Music featuring performances from amapiano acts Aymos and Basetana, as well as Bridges Academy alumni Kallo, DJ Frigid Armadillo and DJ Phodii.
There will also be performances by Nandoca Uhurus, who are part of the Nando's internal music talent development programme. This year, they will receive mentorship from Msaki and Bonga Kwana, and not only perform on the main stage but attend all the music workshops and panel discussions to help nurture and develop their skills.
Feeding creativity at conference week (25 to 28 October)
Basha Uhuru Festival is an all-encompassing creative showcase, which is designed to give an opportunity for creatives and aspiring creatives to come together, be inspired, showcase their talents and feed their creativity. Each day of the conference week will offer a particular creative focus through masterclasses, panel discussions, workshops and dialogues. Attendees will be able to purchase tickets for each day, allowing them to select sessions that are most relevant to them.
