SA: Cotton Fest confirms 2024 date
The fifth edition of Cotton Fest will be held at the Old Station in Newtown, Johannesburg, on 6 April.
The event was founded by the late Riky Rick in 2018 to showcase urban music genres and meld the gaps between local cultural movements. It programmes both well-known and upcoming South African artists.
The festival will run under the hashtag #VoteCottonFest and seek to actively shape culture through music, art, sport, lifestyle choices and celebrating the convergence of individuality.
It is a testament to Riky Rick’s widow Bianca Naidoo’s commitment to continue the legacy created by the ‘Boss Zonke’ hitmaker. Together, they championed collaboration across music, fashion, lifestyle and sports culture.
“Cast your votes for the new wave in youth culture, embracing diversity and inclusivity in every aspect of the festival,” the organisers said. “Engage in interactive elements and unique experiences that reflect the vibrant spirit of this year’s theme #VoteCottonFest.”
This year, Cotton Fest is partnering with YFM, MTV Base, NikNaks, Coke Studios, Vuse, Hunters, Klipdrift, Count Pushkin, 4th Street Wine, NBA, Jägermeister, Youth X by Nedbank and Red Bull.
The festival is yet to announce the line-up of artists, who will perform on three stages. Artists who have previously performed at the festival include Nasty C, Blxckie, Nadia Nakia, A-Reece, Moozlie, Emtee, YoungstaCPT, Grandmaster Ready D, Focalistic and Kamo Mphela, among many others.
Tickets to the festival can be purchased at Pick n Pay shops and online here.
