SA: Crown Gospel Music Awards return to Durban ICC after two years
The 2022 edition of the Crown Gospel Music Awards will be held at Durban ICC in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on 27 November.
“We are so excited to be going back to the ICC after two years of producing the awards in smaller venues due to COVID-19,” Crown Gospel Music Awards founder and executive producer Zanele Mbokazi said. “Thanks to Durban Tourism, the Crown Gospel Music Awards fans will once again experience the famous, crazy red carpet.
“We have shared the good news on social media and we were immediately inundated with requests for tickets, proving that the gospel music lovers have been looking forward to this moment.”
The ceremony, which will celebrate 15 years in November, has grown into one of the most recognised gospel music award ceremonies on the continent. In this year’s nomination process, potential nominees can choose from 33 categories. Entries are still open and artists can download the nomination forms here and send to prince@mirrorpr.co.za before 30 September.
“We are encouraging all gospel artists to get their forms and send their entries as soon as possible,” Rofhiwa Nethengwe, who is heading the nomination process, said. “With all the excitement and the rush to get tickets, we are also encouraging gospel music fans to buy their tickets now in order to avoid last minute disappointments.”
The entry fee for Best Gospel Artist and Best Gospel Song is R1 500. The winner in each of the two categories will get R10 000. Entry fees for all other categories is R1 200. The winner in each category will receive R5 000 and a trophy. Entry fees will not be refunded for disqualified entries.
