SA: Goethe Institut to host Joburg Games Fest
The Goethe Institut in South Africa will host the inaugural Joburg Games Fest in Johannesburg on 26 October.
The event will offer a platform for artists, game makers, and the growing game development community in Johannesburg to connect, learn, and celebrate their craft. The community-driven festival will feature a full day of workshops, talks, and networking opportunities, with a curated arcade showcasing the best locally-made games.
The festival schedule includes workshops, talks, networking and play and an arcade, which is open all day. Workshops and talks will feature local and international industry professionals who will explore key topics in game development, art, and business. These sessions will offer valuable insights for young entrepreneurs, professionals, and anyone looking to enhance their skills in game creation.
The event is a collaborative effort, featuring partnerships with major local studios such as Nyamakop, 24 Bit Games, ITTYNK, and Two Name Games, as well as the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg. The diverse line-up of speakers will represent voices from education, industry, government, and international entrepreneurship.
The Joburg Games Fest is an inclusive space designed for both game makers and players, offering a unique opportunity to network, share knowledge, and immerse participants in Johannesburg’s vibrant gaming scene.
