Goethe-Institut Namibia will kick-off the first edition of its Night Under the Stars (NUTS) event series, featuring Botselo band, in Windhoek on 7 February.
- Botselo.
Local band Arrow Sparks will open the night to set the tone with a short set of two to three songs, the organisers said. While Botselo will take centre stage, the spirit of collaboration remains at the heart of the performance, promising an evening of musical magic.
The event will also feature solo performances, including flute melodies of Polina Loubnina and the entrancing djembe rhythms of Moses Saize. Additionally, attendees can look forward to an improvisational jam session, showcasing the spontaneity and synergy that define Botselo’s dynamic performances.
“Our goal is to celebrate diversity by exchanging ideas and enriching one another through our cultural influences in music,” Botselo band representative Nikita Barakhovski said. “Every performance is a journey where we share our stories and create connections that resonate deeply with our audiences.”
More than just a band, Botselo is a musical collective founded on the principles of harmony and cultural exchange. The group’s members come from diverse backgrounds, including Namibia, Congo Brazzaville, the UK, Siberia, and Spain, creating a rich and eclectic sound that transcends borders. Currently, Botselo is collaborating with musicians from Zimbabwe, The Gambia, St. Lucia, the UK, and Ukraine, further expanding its global fusion of artistic influences.
Barakhovski added: “This concert not only celebrates music but also promotes messages of harmony, love, and peace, a much-needed reminder of the power of unity in today’s world. “Our goal is to tell our shared story through music.”
Gates will open at 6pm, with the show starting at 7pm. Admission is NAD50 (about $2.50) at the door. Find more about the event here.
