The project, which has been described as his magnum opus, is the culmination of a 12-year journey of orchestral exploration, beginning with his 2012 performance alongside the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The 14-track album features collaborative contributions from acclaimed musicians across ten countries, including Kaki King in New York, Derek Gripper in Cape Town, Julian Sartorius in Berne, Madala Kunene in Durban, and Mudassir Khan in New Delhi. At its core, Buttery’s guitar forms the foundation of the record, with Chris Letcher’s expansive orchestral arrangements weaving everything together into a richly layered composition.
To mark the album’s release, Buttery has unveiled a live performance video featuring the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, offering audiences a glimpse into the grandeur of Orchestrations. Reflecting on the creative process, he described the journey as a blend of elation, despair, and relentless experimentation, pushing the boundaries of sound to their limits.
In celebration of Orchestrations, Buttery will host an intimate live performance and Q&A session, where he will perform select tracks, share insights into his creative process, and engage with the audience in a night of sound and storytelling.
