SA: Moonchild Sanelly to explore love, life and career in new reality TV show
South African musician Moonchild Sanelly will star in a reality TV series titled Moonchild Sanelly WOZA on MTV Africa (DStv Channel 130) on 15 March at 9.30pm CAT.
The 10-part series will unveil the real person behind the singer’s public persona. It will explore the ‘Yebo Mama’ hitmaker’s life as a mother and creative. It will also closely look into the musician’s rise to stardom as she pursues her business interests and growing music career while navigating romantic and family relationships.
“I love being on stage and performing. Viewers will get to see my work ethic and what it takes to be a performer. My beloved boo beams will also get to see intimate parts of my life including my relationships which I love. It is going to be a twerk fest so stay tuned to MTV Africa,” Moonchild, who is known for her signature blue hair and provocative dance moves, said.
ViacomCBS Networks Africa senior vice-president and general manager Monde Twala said: “Moonchild is one of the most colourful personalities in the entertainment scene and we are proud to collaborate with her on this series. If you think you knew the star, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

Born Sanelisiwe Twisha, Moonchild began making waves in Durban and later moved to Johannesburg to pursue music as a career. Her music was discovered by Red Bull through DJ Shimza’s EP on which she features. In 2019, Moonchild was featured on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album, on the song ‘My Power’ along with Busiswa and Nija. Her Rabualpha album defined her solo career and saw her performing at SXSW (US) and Primavera Sound (Spain). She has also worked with DJ Maphorisa, Sho Madjozi and Thandiswa Mazwai.
