SA: Parklife fest back with new additions, exciting line-up
The eighth edition of Parklife Gourmet Food & Music Festival will be held at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Emmarentia on 9 August.
Confirmed artists include Lady Zamar, Matthew Mole, Desmond & The Tutus, P.H. FAT, aKING, Ross Learmonth, Janie Bay, Werner Bekker and Charlie Finch. Other artists will be announced in due course.
“Come hungry as well and enjoy the carefully curated food village consisting of the best the city has to offer in gourmet street food,” the festival organisers said. “Take advantage of the public holiday and come celebrate with great live music and yummy food. Bring the family and friends and kick off your three-day weekend with a relaxed day out in the lush surroundings of the Emmarentia Botanical Gardens.”
Breakout Management director Damon Forbes told Music In Africa that the festival always makes sure that it exposes upcoming talent and provides festivalgoers with multi-genre entertainment.
“Seeing newcomers like Werner Bekker, Janie Bay and Charlie Finch in front of new crowds, that’s important," he said. "Music sets the emotion, the energy. It’s all about good vibes.
"I always enjoy mixing the line-up, so to have Desmond & The Tutus, Matthew Mole, Lady Zamar and P.H. FAT on one line-up is just amazing."
Forbes said concertgoers would be treated to new culinary additions. “We have added some craft village elements to the food stalls for people who enjoy DIY, as well as a craft gin section with some of the best gins in town.
“The tickets price for the festival is incredible for such an amazing selection of bands. There is such a great mix of activations with food stalls, craft market and the gin garden. It would be crazy to not go watch us evolve,” he said.
Apart from good food and music, Parklife will this year celebrate Women’s Day with a special rate on tickets for ladies.
Limited early bird tickets are on sale for R150 (ladies), R195 (guys) and R75 (kids under 12 years).
