SA: Reed Exhibitions Africa launches talent showcase for creatives
Reed Exhibitions Africa, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, has launched the Film, Arts, Media and Entertainment (FAME Week Africa), which will be held in the city from 13 to 15 September.
The event seeks to become the cornerstone of Africa’s film, arts, media and entertainment industries. FAME Week Africa will on 14 September feature the FAME Reel Talent Showcase that will display some of the continent’s top creatives in the aforementioned industries. On 13 and 15 September, the event will comprise meetings, content and networking sessions that are aimed at luring a plethora of opportunities to an industry ready for new prospects.
“Reed Exhibitions prides itself in always presenting the finest customer experiences and the FAME Reel Talent Showcase is no exception,” Reed Exhibitions portfolio director for travel, tourism and creative industries Megan Oberholzer said. “We are proud to have fashioned a unique annual platform to showcase African creativity at its best to both the continent and the world.”
The aim of the FAME Reel Talent Showcase is to form a platform for creatives in Africa to be seen and acknowledged by industry stakeholders as well as to showcase their work and explore possible opportunities with industry leaders, Reed Exhibitions Africa said.
Mayoral committee member for safety and security Alderman JP Smith said that they were excited to partner with Reed Exhibitions for the FAME Week Africa event.
“As Africa’s leading film and media hub with amazing locations, diverse talent pool and world-class infrastructure, we want to be able to provide platforms for filmmakers to showcase work and share it with the rest of the world. The FAME Reel Talent Showcase is the perfect opportunity to put that talent on display.”
Based on various categories, event organisers will welcome creatives from across the continent and give them an opportunity to share their creativity with industry influencers.
“By connecting industry professionals and creatives, FAME Week Africa will turn every moment into an opportunity, transforming three days of networking, meetings, conferences, film screenings, live music and theatre performances, into lasting businesses,” FAME Week Africa’s website reads.
