SAMRO to launch Rhythms and Rights podcast series
The Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) will launch a new podcast series that seeks to explore the copyrights and royalties system in the music industry via YouTube on 5 July.
The Rhythms and Rights podcast is dedicated to empowering rightsholders with a deeper understanding of the complex world of copyrights and royalties. This informative weekly series will debut on 5 July and continue throughout the year, with new episodes released every Friday.
By tuning in, subscribers will gain valuable insights into the industry and stay up to date on the latest developments. Furthermore, the podcast will delve into the inspiring stories behind songs, uncover the secrets to achieving long-term success in the music industry, and equip rightsholders with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex landscape of copyrights and royalties, ultimately empowering them to build sustainable and prosperous careers in music.
“The primary objective of the Rhythms and Rights podcast is to meticulously untangle the intricacies surrounding the management of music rights, educating and providing well-crafted insights tailored specifically for composers, authors and publishers,” SAMRO said.
The first six episodes of the podcast will offer a unique glimpse into the inner workings of SAMRO, featuring in-depth discussions with key members of the organisation’s leadership team including CEO Annabell Lebethe, general manager of licensing Karabo Senna, general manager of distributions Clinton Hornett, manager of publisher services Eugene Goulouw, manager of member services Nthabiseng Nyakane and CSI manager Lesego Maforah, who will share their expertise, insights and provide a comprehensive understanding of the institution’s operations and services.
