SA’s Dope Saint Jude gets featured on Apple Music
South African hip hop artist Dope Saint Jude has been featured on Apple Music's New Artist Spotlight for November. The selection coincides with the release of her brand new EP Resilient.
Released on 2 November, Resilient was produced by London-based producers Pete ‘Boxsta’ Martin and Dantae Johnson and features five tracks: ‘Who I Am’, ‘Grrrl Like’, ‘Liddy’, ‘Didn’t Come to Play’ and ‘Inside’.
Growing up in the Cape Flats, Cape Town, Dope Saint Jude's music was inspired by her journey in the past two years. She taught herself the guitar when she was 12 and began writing poetry to accompany her music. She later went into her own brand of hip hop, which has been described as a soundtrack for feminist inclusivity, acceptance and empowerment.
"I couldn’t be more thrilled to have been chosen as Apple Music’s New Artist Spotlight for November,” she said. “I am so happy that I will be able to reach more people through this amazing platform and I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity. I have realised that my young and growing audience appreciate authenticity and I know they support me in my pursuit of fulfilment.”
