Son of Ghanaian president releases debut single

Produced by Liquidbeatz, the song ‘Bodam’ has rapper Hama produce a speedy dense flow on a heavily percussive beat. Apparently released three months ago, but only now garnering attention, ‘Bodam’ has received good notices in the Ghanaian media.

The release of the single ‘Bodam’ is, however, not Hama’s first excursion into the public space as a rapper. Such venues as the Alliance Francaise, Accra, which had the rapper perform at the institution’s Electronic Music Festival, where he collaborated with DJ Kobby Graham. He has also performed at the Ubora Awards two consecutive years from 2014.

There has been no comment from President Mahama on his son’s foray into music. It would be recalled that the president has in the past spoken about his feelings toward the contemporary music scene, expressing admiration for Stonebwoy. Speaking on a radio programme last year he said, “I like the young [artistes] too, I listen to some of the old young ones like Shasha Marley, Wutah, VIP.

“But recently I listened to Stonebwoy, I think his got a good hit with Shikina and Baafira, that’s also a good one. I like Ghanaian music so I listen to most our artistes.”
