SoundCloud launches Insights on mobile app
SoundCloud announced on 8 July that it had launched an analytics feature on its mobile app.
The news follows YouTube’s announcement this week that it had introduced its Analytics for Artists tool, which lets users monitor their audience, global reach and performance across the platform.
SoundCloud’s Insights provides creators with data to understand who is listening, what music is being consumed and the location of the listener – allowing users to make connections or plan their next tour. The Insights interface is accessible in a few taps.
How to check your insights
- From your profile, library or More menu tap the Insights bar graph icon, or access it here directly from your phone.
- An overview of your total plays by day, week, month and year will be viewable.
- Scroll to see insights on your tracks, listeners and locations.
Users can unlock more data on the Pro Unlimited subscription plan. While every creator can see their top listener, top city, top country and top 50 tracks, Pro Unlimited subscribers get access to their top 50 in each category.
Additionally, Pro Unlimited lets users share all their work and manage how it’s heard with Spotlight features, embed controls and the ability to replace tracks.
“For creators that have been using Pulse to access Stats, this means you no longer need to navigate away from the main app to learn about your audience,” the SoundCloud blog reads.
The company says it will be replacing Stats on desktop with the enhanced Insights experience in the coming months.
