Spotify extends free Premium trial period to three months
Music streaming service Spotify has extended the free trial for its first-time Premium users from one to three months.

The announcement could be influenced by Apple Music's advert via its website in late July, which said it was limiting its free trial period from three months to one month. Reports about Apple Music's cut were carried by a number publications but the streaming service made an about-turn and reverted to its original three-month trial, effectively setting the standard for the music streaming industry.
Spotify's new offer is available is only open to users who haven't already tried Premium. Spotify Premium users will have access to 50 million tracks available on-demand and ad-free, and access to 450 000 podcast titles.
“Music and podcasts play an important role in people's lives so we wanted to give users the first three months for free to fully enjoy everything that Spotify Premium has to offer,” Spotify chief Premium business officer Alex Norström said.
“We know it takes time to fully experience all of the features available with Premium, so we’re giving people the time that they need to fall in love with Premium’s seamless listening experience and on-demand access to more than 50 million tracks, billions of playlists and 450 000 podcast titles for free.”
Spotify said in a statement: “Starting today, new and eligible Spotify users can join over 100 million Premium subscribers by signing up for the first three months of Premium for free at spotify.com/premium. This first three months for free offer is always-on/not limited time, and will roll out across Spotify Premium plans globally.”
According to the company, the Spotify Premium plan offers some of the following features:
- No adverts interruptions while enjoying music.
- You can download music and podcasts to your heart’s desire.
- Play any song, any playlist, any podcast, anytime and anywhere.
- Easily toggle between any device.
